CITF provides skills training programmes using CBMT, which is a systematic approach to skills development in order to perform work-based or occupational tasks. Competency refers to an individual’s demonstrated knowledge, skills and attitude displayed to a specific standard to attain intended results or outcomes. The CBMT system is fliexble and provides for the following:
Any trainee can enter and exit the system at any time, having demonstrated mastery of tasks, following completion of training programmes.
The system is individualsed, therefore, allowing trainees to work at their pace, do self-check and request to test when ready to do so.
All competencies offered are actual on-the-job tasks and projects are life size.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a process whereby through assessment, credit is given to learning which has been previously acquired in different ways-other than formal training. Trainees are awarded a competence certificate upon successfully demonstrating their previously acquired skills.
Since emphasis is on the acquisition of practical competencies, CITF is able to produce competent semi-skilled artisans in 4 to 8 months.
